Maverick Construction removes the original wood stave Columns of the Grand Hotel of Mackinac Island then installs steel pipe columns to support the upper structure. While steel work is being performed the original columns are split in half, rehabilitated, and wrapped around the steel. The original plan was to set up shoring to replace 1 column at a time.  By value engineering we determined that by setting up the whole area we could save labor and gain repetition, thus saving the client substantial money.
